April Nanny Training Recap
Last Sunday, we had our first guest speaker host our Free Nanny Training. Hailey Bonin, M.Ed. has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Education, and has been a nanny, household manager, and home educator for over seven years. Currently, she is beginning a new role as curriculum specialist at a preschool in Dallas, TX.
Hailey shared with our nannies what she wished that she had known before her first day as a nanny. Some topics she covered were: setting boundaries, expectations, and self care.
As Hailey explained, the nanny/family relationship is a unique one in which lines can easily be blurred. Working so closely, and in the home can make the relationship feel familial, which can be a good thing, but as it is also a working employer/employee relationship, it is even more important to set clear expectations and boundaries from the beginning. Hailey offered several suggestions to help new nannies set appropriate boundaries and expectations on a professional level, personal level, and with the children. At Thrive, our highly detailed Nanny/Family Contract can help set appropriate expectations in regards to job duties, pay, PTO, and benefits.
We received quite a bit of positive feedback from the nannies that attended this session; we hope to have Hallie back in the future!
